Sustainable lighting
Urbanlicht is the sustainable part of danheap. From my first days as a lighting designer when tungsten halogen was everywhere through the 'cold' early days of LED I have always been keen to push what can be done. Sustainability, recycling and minimising waste is now at the heart of a new range of products and the results surprise everyone who sees them.
Recycling waste
We use recycled acrylic waste, recycled glass, 'urbanite' (recycled rubble) and even crushed oyster shells to create new luminaires. These products can then also be recycled back into new products and we will even take site strip out waste and recycle it to produce new material. Both our concrete and acrylic products can be tinted to achieve a range of colours

Featherweight
This floorwash Luminaire is hand made in the UK from white remade, a new 70% recycled acrylic, which is also fully recyclable. The Featherweight has an ambient crystal like glow, as well as a directional 160 degree wash. Designed for external lighting of driveways/pathways and garden or pool areas. Ideal in both a commercial or residential setting. Featherweight adds a magical ambience to external settings.
Heavyweight
This floorwash Luminaire is hand made in the UK from remade, a new 70% recycled acrylic, which is also fully recyclable. The Heavyweight is the dark discreet opposite of Featherweight. Its gloss black finish allows it to hide in the landscape reflecting its surroundings. It delivers a directional 160 degree wash. Designed for external lighting of driveways/pathways and garden or pool areas. Ideal in both a commercial or residential setting. Heavyweight adds a magical ambience to external settings.
All that Glows
This pendant Luminaire is hand made in the UK from remade, a new 65% recycled acrylic, which is also fully recyclable. All That Glows uses white remade acrylic to deliver a form that looks like something between ice and marble. It is a truly stunning decorative pendant and another really surprising product from a recycled plastic.
All that Glitters
This pendant Luminaire is hand made in the UK from remade, a new 70% recycled acrylic, which is also fully recyclable. All That Glitters uses black remade acrylic to deliver what appears to be a simple gloss black pendant but on looking closer the tiny gaps in the cast material allow little glimpses of golden light. A truly magical form and an unexpected result from a recycled plastic.
Lightweight
Made from 75% recycled waste our hand made (in France) floorwash luminaire is designed to create beautiful external lighting for driveways/pathways and garden, pool or beach areas. Ideal in both a commercial or residential setting. Cast in solid concrete with a brass inset LED array, the lightweight projects indirect light both across the ground and reflected upwards. Available in a wide selection of finishes from smooth white to raw grey as well as crushed shells and colour matching. Tactile and natural in feel, the Lightweight blends into it’s landscape.
sLightweight
Made from 75% recycled waste, the sLightweight is the smaller version of our popular Lightweight. Hand made in France this floorwash luminaire is designed to create beautiful external lighting for driveways/pathways and garden, pool or beach areas. Ideal in both a commercial or residential setting. Cast in solid concrete with a removable LED module, the sLightweight projects indirect light both across the ground and reflected upwards. Tactile and natural in feel, the Lightweight blends into it’s landscape.
